Summer Recreation Program

Our summer rec program is a summer long day-camp for children ages 6 to 14. WECHC has run this program since 1975 to help build strong communities by supporting child development, encouraging teamwork, leadership, fair play and other opportunities.  

Summer Recreation Program Details

In 2025 we are offering our camp in 4 different WECHC communities.  

West End: 

  • St. Joseph/ Bloomfield (and surrounding WECHC sites)  

Downtown:  

  • Niagara (and surroundings WECHC sites)  

East End:  

  • Lauzon Rd. (and surroundings WECHC sites)
  • Reginald/ Lassaline (and surroundings WECHC sites)

Duration:  Monday- Thursday, excluding holidays (exact dates to come)

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Cost: FREE for WECHC tenants! 

Activities: Interactive games, exercise, arts and crafts, learning activities and field trips. 

Summer Recreation FAQs

Will programming be available at every site?

In-person camp is only available at the 4 communities above. However, it is open to all of our WECHC families. Spots are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Will lunch be provided?

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided daily.

Can I volunteer?

Youth aged 13 and up can apply to volunteer at one of our camps.  

Who will be responsible for looking after my children?

Each camp will consist of a Camp Coordinator, Camp Counselors and Volunteers. These staff have all gone through an extensive selection process and have been thoroughly trained on the policies and procedures to maintain a professional manner, acting as teachers and role models to the children who attend camp.
